Lenin Secondary School No. 1 in the city of Karakol, Issyk-Kul Region, is one of the first schools to undergo energy certification.
While conducting an energy assessment of the school building, experts from DEKA Group inspected the roof, walls, floors, and heating system. In their report, the DEKA Group experts recommended that the school administration replace the asbestos-cement roofing, which poses environmental safety risks. They also recommended insulating the attic ceiling with 150 mm thick mineral wool and installing thermostatic valves on radiators to ensure comfortable classroom temperatures.
Overall, the energy assessment revealed that 98% of the building’s energy consumption is dedicated to heating, with the majority of heat loss occurring through the exterior walls and roof—accounting for 62% of the total.
Following the implementation of energy-efficiency measures, the school’s heat loss will be reduced by 79%. This reduction will enable the school to save significant amounts on heating costs, allowing the educational institution to allocate the saved funds to other needs.
Furthermore, the energy-saving measures will lower harmful CO2 emissions from 14.1 kg/m² to 2.9 kg/m², thereby contributing to environmental preservation in the Issyk-Kul region.
As a result of the energy audit, Lenin General Education School No. 1 in Karakol will be issued an energy certificate registered in a dedicated registry. A printed copy of the certificate will be displayed on the school building’s façade.
